The Rosental copper yard in Stolberg is an outstanding testimony to early industrial history and is one of the most important surviving copper yards in the Rhineland. It was built in 1724 by the well-known master builder Tillmann Roland on behalf of the copper master Johannes Schleicher - at a time when Stolberg was known throughout Europe as a center of brass and copper processing.
What makes the Rosental copper yard special is not only its history, but also the way it was built: Unlike other copper yards in the region, Rosental was built using limestone marl slabs, which originate from the Maastricht area. To this day, the subtle yellowish color of the stone gives the building the elegant appearance of an aristocratic residence and clearly sets it apart from the usual quarry stone buildings.
After centuries of eventful history, the farm underwent a renaissance in 2007: siblings Annegret and Monika Lück acquired the building and had it extensively restored with great attention to detail. Today, the Kupferhof Rosental offers a magnificent setting for festive and prestigious occasions, especially weddings.
